Peris Enterprises

In 1996 Nova became the first Aboriginal person to win an Olympic gold medal. Nova realized with the profile she had earned, that she had become a recognizable and accepted face for Indigenous Rights and an advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health.

Nova created Peris Enterprises, her consulting company committed to implementing culturally sensitive communication strategies and event management for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Peris Enterprises has been involved in countless events and communications throughout every corner of Australia. Nova has now created a close knit network of advocates comprising Indigenous role models in their chosen fields.

Through her company she has been involved in high level community education campaigns. Such as:

  • Working with women in shelters and refuges
  • Young Australian of the year
  • Indigenous youth in detention centres
  • Medical services and centres
  • Youth issues and suicide prevention
  • Domestic violence

And to date, helped implement the communications strategy for the Child Health Check.
