David Peachey

David Peachey was introduced to Rugby League at an early age by watching his uncles play in the regional competition around Dubbo.

Peach was playing with his uncles by the age of 15 at the Dubbo Aboriginal Knockout. At the same time, while playing for South Dubbo high school, Arthur Beetson recruited David to make the move to Sydney, where he joined the Cronulla Sharks under 21's side in 1992. David made his first grade debut for the Sharks two years later, against the Raiders in round one of the 1994 season. David's agility, handling skills and dynamic attack made an immediate impact at the Sharks where he became a fan favourite.

Davids consistent attacking vision warranted his selection in a SuperLeague test for Australia in 1997 and three Tri series matches for NSW. In the same year the Sharks made the grand final vs Brisbane. David Also played State of Origin with New South Wales in 2000, and had a fantastic season for the Sharks deep who made the semi's.

He became a leader of the team and captained the sharks from 2001 to 2003.

David enjoyed a long successful career at the sharks for 11 years where he played 232 first grade games and scored 101 tries. In 2005 David moved to England to play for Widnes, but with tough treatment by the clubs management and their shock relegation to second division, Peach found himself with a great opportunity to play out the end of the 2006 NRL competition with the South Sydney Rabbitoh's. An opportunity he took advantage of adding experience and direction to the side whose morale seamed to turn around with the injection of 'the peach' winning their first game for the season defeating the eventual premier's, the Broncos. With the new look promise the rabbitohs show and under their new owners, they resigned peach and secured some significant signings that will definately make them finals contenders in 2007. David is a strong role model for Indigenous youth and indigenous people everywhere, and is recognised for his work with the community. David Peachey, The David Peachey Foundation and The David Peachey Indigenous Rugby League knockout work closely with Nova Peris and Indigenous Health.
