David Peachey
David Peachey was introduced to Rugby League
at an early age by watching his uncles play in the regional competition
around Dubbo.
Peach was playing with his uncles by the age of 15 at the Dubbo
Aboriginal Knockout. At the same time, while playing for South Dubbo
high school, Arthur Beetson recruited David to make the move to
Sydney, where he joined the Cronulla Sharks under 21's side in 1992.
David made his first grade debut for the Sharks two years later,
against the Raiders in round one of the 1994 season. David's agility,
handling skills and dynamic attack made an immediate impact at the
Sharks where he became a fan favourite.
Davids consistent attacking vision warranted his selection in a
SuperLeague test for Australia in 1997 and three Tri series matches
for NSW. In the same year the Sharks made the grand final vs Brisbane.
David Also played State of Origin with New South Wales in 2000,
and had a fantastic season for the Sharks deep who made the semi's.
He became a leader of the team and captained the sharks from 2001
to 2003.
David enjoyed a long successful career at the sharks for 11 years
where he played 232 first grade games and scored 101 tries. In 2005
David moved to England to play for Widnes, but with tough treatment
by the clubs management and their shock relegation to second division,
Peach found himself with a great opportunity to play out the end
of the 2006 NRL competition with the South Sydney Rabbitoh's. An
opportunity he took advantage of adding experience and direction
to the side whose morale seamed to turn around with the injection
of 'the peach' winning their first game for the season defeating
the eventual premier's, the Broncos. With the new look promise the
rabbitohs show and under their new owners, they resigned peach and
secured some significant signings that will definately make them
finals contenders in 2007. With the new look promise the rabbitohs
